It has become apparent that methods and systems historically used for designing our living and working environment needs to change. This is evident because of significant increases in the  cost of energy, regional shortages of water, diminishing sources of raw building materials, and a growing world-wide population.

Green building design, also known as Sustainable Design, has become a significantly more important system of building, site planning and design in recent years. Green building practices can substantially reduce or eliminate negative environmental impacts and improve existing unsustainable design, construction and operational practices.
